The Elimination Of False Spiritual Security, Part 5: Friend Or Enemy?

August 20, 2013

Read part 4 here.

There is nothing more confusing to non-believers or new Christians than people who have False Spiritual Security. These are the people, who show no fruit, and don’t live their lives for Christ. Who don’t trust Christ, but say they do. What do you think it says to a new Christian or non-believer when you go out with them, eye up girls, get drunk, swear, fornicate, and then miss church the next day?

What does it say to the lost when you profess to be a Christian but then listen to vulgar music, watch sinful TV and movies, never talk about what Christ’s done or is doing in your life, covet, envy, and treat your wife or girlfriend inappropriately? What does it say to the new Christian or non-believer when you’re involved with a false religion like catholicism, mormonism, jehovahs witness, or any of the others? Don’t you think the hypocritical, illogical and counter Biblical nature of those religions are confusing to them, and just drive them away from God as they did me?

What does it say to the ones whom you profess to love, whom you pray daily for their salvation, when you’re best friends with the world? When you’re placated by, and conforming to every new trend and technology? When you see all the new movies and go to all the drug infested music festivals? When you have more favorite shows then favorite Bible characters, and know more song lyrics then Bible verses? When you mostly read fiction, novels and non-Christian books and can’t stop raving about them?

The reality is you haven’t read, don’t understand, or don’t want to understand John 4:4 as it states in a crystal clear manner; You adulterous people,  don’t you know that friendship with the world means enmity against God? Therefore, anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God.

As is always the case in the Bible, you’re either a friend or an enemy. So which one are you, a friend or an enemy of the world? With the world all around you, this battle should be draining. It should feel like a constant battle to do God’s will and see His will carried out in all areas of our lives and society. Do you feel like you’re in a battle? Does the sex and drugs in The Great Gatsby disgust you? Does the way Facebook games take your eyes off of heaven and God bother you? Do you even see the silent battle that you’re naively letting the devil win? A battle he wins by getting you to conform in seemingly innocent ways to this horribly evil world? Every one of us (saved or not) is in an intense personal spiritual battle everyday, and it’s time to start living life intentionally and deliberately for Christ, instead of naively and passively for the devil!

To be continued…

  1. I proclaim Christ in my words, actions and thoughts. I am not perfect and never will be. However, I have a freedom in Christ and a joy through the Holy Spirit that abounds in me daily. Thank you for carrying the Word and having the courage to say what needs to be said. Part 5 was really good.
