Eastwooding Richard Dawkins.

January 11, 2013

William Layne Craig

Out in the open wisdom calls aloud, she raises her voice in the public square; on top of the wall she cries out, at the city gate she makes her speech,

“How long will you who are simple love your simple ways? How long will mockers delight in mockery and fools hate knowledge? (Proverbs 1:20)

Bills testimony is at the end of the post.

William Layne Craig is an amazing guy. Tara and I were first exposed to him at a Christian Apologetics Conference near Milwaukee this past year. He was one of the headliners and for good reason. He’s probably the preeminent Christian mind in the world.

The most amazing thing about Bill Craig is that even though he’s brilliant, he’s able to break things down to everyone regardless of their education or knowledge about the subject he’s teaching on. He’s also very relatable and full of slang and language that shows his humble Peoria roots.

When I saw the name of his presentation on the bill I was confused, it said “Eastwooding Dawkins”. I had no idea what Eastwooding was but I knew Dawkins well from my anti-theist days. So I Googled “Eastwooding” and watched the video of Clint Eastwood interviewing an empty chair where Barack Obama was supposed to be sitting at the republican convention (I think).

I instantly put two and two together and realized that Bill Craig might be the coolest guy ever, a Christian genius with flair and a sense of humor. He was going to act as if the top atheist was in the chair (if you can call someone “top” who’s mistaken about the most important Truth in the world), and have a conversation with himself by simply filling in what Dawkins responses have been in his writings.

See this had become necessary because the top atheist and many more will not debate Bill Craig. So Bill saw what Clint did and decided to copy him. About ten minutes into the presentation something hit me. Bill’s argument for GOD, Jesus, the Bible and everything else is very systematic, simple and structured and always had been. I realized that Richard could just watch this video, get together with the other people who are mad at a faultless GOD, and then debate Bill. I was perplexed, so at the end of the faux debate I raised my hand and Asked Bill about it. Bill replied that “yes, Richard could take this, go over it with his friends and then put out a video recorded rebuttal or even debate him live anytime, there was an open invitation”.

It hit me hard that true thinking, learnered atheists, are about to be out of business, at least to people who really want to know Truth, the people who really think about things and do sincere independent research.

I started writing this post an hour ago thinking I would just post Bill’s testimony and be done with it, but as usual it’s grown into more. So before it gets out of control I’ll leave you with his Wiki, his testimony, his Eastwooding video, and most importantly his podcast. His podcast is about 100 audio recordings of a four year class that he teaches that takes anyone from beginning to end regarding GOD, Jesus and the Bible. It’s truly amazing. If you want to know GOD start burning through them. He’s hard to stop listening to.

The only reason you don’t understand that Jesus Christ is GOD, is because you don’t want to!

Bills Testimony

   Whoever corrects a mocker invites insults;

     whoever rebukes the wicked incurs abuse.

    Do not rebuke mockers or they will hate you;

     rebuke the wise and they will love you.

   Instruct the wise and they will be wiser still;

     teach the righteous and they will add to their learning.

  (Proverbs 9:7-9)
