Independent, Open-Minded, SIncere, Research!

October 16, 2012

Out in the open wisdom calls aloud, she raises her voice in the public square; on top of the wall she cries out, at the city gate she makes her speech,

“How long will you who are simple love your simple ways? How long will mockers delight in mockery and fools hate knowledge? Proverbs 1:20

Hello All,

I’ve decided to use this post to make it easy for all of you to do your own independent open-minded sincere research. Or for the people who understand truth, an easy way to gain even more wisdom. What I like to tell people is that you should do research in a way in which you’re trying to disprove your own beliefs, understanding, opinion and viewpoint wrong. Instead of sending me article after article supporting your side, start doing research that will not support your position and see where it leads you. Don’t sit around having your ears tickled by what supports your life, wants and desires. Look for truth! I was extremely lucky in that GOD disproved (and continues to disprove) my entire lifetime of independent research over a three-month period of time, which you can read about in my testimony on this site.

As I’ve said many times there is absolutely no excuse for not finding the truth. There has never been a time in history when the truth is more obvious and easier to uncover. The only caveat to that is there’s also never been a time when there have been more people, organizations, media and entertainment making a concerted effort to subvert Christianity and keep the truth about GOD from the people. They know that GOD frees you from all fear and their power lies in keeping you insecure and fearful of everything. Don’t let them pull the wool over your eyes any longer.

I can’t find the Bible verse right now but one of them reads something like this. On the Day of Judgment no one will have a word to say about the decision that is made. When I read this my imagination ran wild. I thought how could GOD possibly create a system of judgment that the person being judged would think is so fair and just, that they wouldn’t even be able to argue about spending the rest of eternity in hell. My pastor John Klinepeter of Willow Chicago inadvertently crystallized it for me one day when he said “ GOD will simply love and respect you enough to allow the decision you made on Earth to stand”

Everyone is making his or her decision everyday. He gave you free will now show Him that you have the ability to use it. GOD has given each of you ample, endless and obvious opportunities to find truth. And the old second grade plan of giving your life to Christ right before you die doesn’t work unless it’s sincere. You better hope you die in a way that gives you the chance and the time to be sincere about it.

Even if you do get to be sincere about it right before you die, you have no idea of the amazing life you will have missed not living in truth. Nothing is more painful and sad than people who ignore truth out of self-comfort and convenient ignorance. All the mistakes and pain you’ll go through not allowing the Holy Spirit to lead your life. All of the discipline (that you wont understand) you’ll receive as you try to ignore GOD and the new understanding this blog and many other things will continue to make blindingly clear of Him. All the time you’ll spend with unforgiveness, bitterness, revenge and anger in your heart polluting all of your days and relationships. All of the dreams that will pass by because you didn’t allow GOD to gently nudge you in the right direction and bless you. There is nothing you can do to be reconciled to GOD other than accept His gift.  It doesn’t matter how good of a person you are or how much you choose not to understand. It’s unmerited grace!

The rest of this post will hopefully allow you to go through a process I like to call “Learn, Understand, Trust”. Trusting in GOD is a process and it starts with learning just like anything else.  So few people have a true understanding of Christianity and the reason is they never learned about it. They never opened a Bible. They haven’t been to church since they were forced to go. They don’t have inquisitive conversations with Christians.  Well here’s your chance to learn everything you can, easily and conveniently.  Don’t forget to do this research in a way in which you’re trying to disprove what you currently believe or think you understand.

– Listen to or read the Bible for free.

– Download Sunday messages from Bill Hybels. Bill started Willow Creek 30 some years ago and now it’s the largest church in the country. Dare I say if scriptures were being written today he’d be the most prominent figure in the past 500 years. There was no such thing as a mega church (I hate that term) before Bill. GOD has changed what church is through Bill. The carpet has been pulled out from under the catholic church and all the rest by GOD Himself.

– Listen to or read the Bible on your computer. The audio button is on the bottom of the page.

– If you have questions about the world, life or what the Bible or Christianity has to say on anything, this site is phenomenally logical, rational and accurate.  How old is the Earth? What about evolution? What about the dinosaurs? What about the Holocaust? Don’t let trivial easily answered questions be a convenient scapegoat for not finding truth. The answer or rational to every single stumbling block you have to finding truth is at your fingertips. When a person starts to use these as their reason for not knowing the truth, it’s obvious to me that they don’t want the truth. As if my ability to explain these things is any indicator of truth anyway.

Hands On

– This is the best bible you can get in my opinion. It puts it in layman’s terms and explains the concepts in detail for very little money.

Awesome, inexpensive, small Bible

– Awesome radio station if you’re in Chicago

– You can get the “The Case for Christ” here. This book will clear up any factual issues you have with Jesus, The Bible, or GOD.

“The Case for Christ”

– I’ve found this is the best order to read the bible.

– This is a phenomenal church that I attend. A church that doesn’t focus on politics or money, just the Bible and love. Tara and I were baptized as adults there and you should consider getting baptized as well if you have Jesus in your heart. If you can’t attend there, consider finding another Christian Bible based nondenominational church.

– If you want to learn everything about Christianity, God and the Holy Spirit, William Layne Craig is the best. His podcast is here

– In order for the Holy Spirit to come into your life, you have to sincerely and from the heart speak the following words out loud when you’re ready. And by ready I mean your heart has to be ready. For some of you that can be right now, for others you may have to learn and understand more. Once you do this then you can give your heart to Christ and he will help you trust and change you from the inside out.

1. Jesus, I’m a sinner and I’m asking for your forgiveness.

2. Jesus, I’m giving my life over to you, I don’t want to do it alone anymore and I’m asking you to bless me with the Holy Spirit.

3. Jesus, I’m asking that you help me aggressively turn away from sin.

– Just remember to have a personal relationship with him. Praise him and give him glory but most importantly always trust that he can do anything and is always good. If you do your best and trust him you have nothing to worry about. When you worry and do your best you’re saying you don’t trust God. Sincerely ask him to come into your life.

– Remove chemicals and distractions from your life. Alcohol, drugs, chemicals in our food and water, nicotine, caffeine, TV, Computer, Phone, compartmentalize work, sports on TV, news. Be present and sensitive to the signs that he’s giving us everyday. Even turn off music for a while and enjoy silence. BUSY = Buried Under Satan’s Yolk!

– Pray, read the Bible, talk to Christians, and go to a Christian Bible based church while having a daily personal dialog with God. As you do this actively turn away from sin, especially conscious, knowingly, purposeful sin. It’s not an all or nothing game. If you mess up, all is not lost. However the more you do those things while turning away from sin, the stronger the Holy Spirit gets and the easier life becomes in all respects. Stress, anxiety, fear, unhealthy desires and all other love and joy inhibitors will begin to fade away.

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. (Ephesians 2:8-10)
