Love and Hope!

September 11, 2012

None of us can prove God doesn’t exist, but many of us spend our entire life thinking and believing He doesn’t. Not believing that He can do anything in our life and does. Not believing that He’s aggressively pursuing a relationship with all of us at all times. Not believing that He disciplines all of us everyday. If you’re close to Him, and live how He and the Bible wants you to live, the discipline is slight, if you’re not, it may not be so slight. Not realizing that he doesn’t punish. Punishment is when you give a negative outcome and don’t care if it improves behavior. He loves us deeply and only disciplines to improve our behavior and move us away from sin.

He created us and the world so that he could give and receive true, pure, everlasting love. If God lived down the street it would be easy to love Him, if he threw a million dollars on our floor it would be easy to love Him. But that wouldn’t generate pure love. Pure love is only generated by going trough trials and tribulations. By working at getting to know one another, not by overt actions of admiration, that’s not genuine. The mystery of God, the work and investigation it takes to find the truth and the slight beautiful ways He shows His love is how true love for God is developed. It’s his perfect design.

If he’s real, it’s the greatest truth possible with the biggest potential for upside.

But we spend our time doing research papers on things that will make very little if any difference in our life. But we do them with an open scientific mind. Hoping to learn. But we don’t do that with God. Why?

Google Christian apologetics. The Holy Spirit. John MacArthur, listen to some of his sermons.

Consider putting down Hunger Games and adding the Bible to your independent research. What do you have to lose? It’s just a book. If you have to think about it as fiction then do it. I’m sure everyone has read plenty of fiction. The upside is the most beautiful thing you can imagine and it’s probably the best “fiction” you’ll ever read.

Many people rely on their intellect to give them confidence so when something like Christianity comes along it threatens their knowledge base. They turn into nothing more than a homophobe in Boys Town or racist on the South side. They’re afraid of what they don’t understand. They’re afraid of the world they may think they’re so smart in, or understand so well, being turned upside down.

They become defensive in that they don’t even want to look at the evidence with an open mind just like the homophobe. They become controlling in that they don’t want to be around it just like the racist. All the trademarks of insecurity, which include, a lack of understanding and knowledge, same as the other bigots. It doesn’t have to be that way. You can start learning. Start actually having an open mind instead of just saying it. Stop being scarred of what you don’t understand. All you need to know is at your fingertips.

If you find yourself saying things like “I don’t want to talk about religion” or “those people are crazy” or ” I don’t need God” but you haven’t read the New Testament or ever went to church after the age of 16, I think any of you logical, rational people can see how illogical and irrational your research method is. Ask yourself why that is. Is it because your intellect is what you hang your hat on? Is it because your understanding of the world and knowledge is what you identify with? I promise you that with a little work your understanding of everything will grow exponentially if you start researching the Bible.

A person’s intellect is the reason why most people don’t believe. Much of Christianity isn’t completely rational or logical. But that’s only in a world where said person is arrogant enough to think their understanding is as great as Gods and a world where said person is going to hold onto that arrogance with out doing any independent research into Jesus Christ.

People’s intellect unfortunately is also the thing that will keep them from believing and finding the truth that is all around them. As I said their intellect is possibly all they have. If it’s thrown on it’s head, and the real truth is something they know nothing about, where does that leave them? Threatened, scared, insecure, lost, etc… The same place they are now but for different reasons.

Many people even if they get past all of that are afraid that they won’t be able to live up to the lifestyle the Bible requires. However that is a non-issue. All you have to do is the following.

1. Admit that you’re a sinner as we all are.

2. Ask Jesus for forgiveness and He will jump at the chance.

3. Give your heart to Jesus Christ. Trust in him. When you do your best and then worry, you are saying you don’t trust in God. Imagine how great your life would be if you only had to do your best and believe in Gods only Son and then let Him handle the rest as I have for the past two months.

4. Aggressively turn away from sin. No one is perfect. It’s not an all or nothing game. Just do your best.

If you do these things the Holy Spirit will come upon you. You’ll feel it. This is the proof that is available to everyone. There can be no more talk of no proof. It’s available to everyone. I along with millions of others will tell you that. Find the others, you all know Christians, ask them why they believe, talk to them. Read my testimony again.

The Holy Spirit will change your desires as it has mine. It will change the way you think. It will remove your stress, anxiety, insecurity and all other negative feelings over time as it has in my life. The more you turn away from sin, and the stronger you build your relationship with God, the stronger the Holy Spirit will become.

As the Holy Spirit becomes stronger it will become easier to avoid sin and temptation. I think of it like a video game. Imagine a power rating at the top of the screen that increases when you avoid sin, go to church, read the Bible, pray and have personal conversations with Jesus. The higher it gets the more powerful you get and the easier the game (life) gets. If you sin a little it goes down a little. If you don’t pray it goes down a little. It’s not an all or nothing game and all He asks is that you do your best.

The other type of people that I meet are people who have become disillusioned with God, religion or Christianity.

First of all I want to say that there is no room in your personal relationship with God for religion. Religion is nothing but a bunch of people putting man made beliefs, concepts and rituals around God so that they can gain power, money and control. Only go by the Bible. Find a Bible based church, not one in which only the priest can read from It. Then listen to the signs, signals and direction that will be coming directly from God.

If you’ve had a bad experience with religion, church or God I suggest you take the people out of it and concentrate on the Bible and your relationship, prayer and conversation with Jesus and in turn God. Stop letting those people and their horrible actions keep you from the most beautiful truth on the planet. Stop letting them control you even after you’ve figured out they’re some of the worst people imaginable. If you’ve been abused, stop letting them abuse you even after the abuse. If you’ve been bored to death by church, find a different church; consider The Moody Church or another nondenominational Bible based Christian church.

I write this message with a lot of love and hope. With no other motivation than to hopefully help everyone find the truth and love that you can’t imagine. I was an atheist all my life and the only thing that could make me swallow my pride and admit I was wrong about everything is an act of God through Jesus Christ in the form of the Holy Spirit and proof that I was wrong. The only thing I’ve ever cared about in life is truth and finding the best way to do things and now I’ve reached the ultimate in both regards and you can too, with no risk, no downside and the biggest upside possible.

Part of my hope is you’ll share this with as many people as possible.

For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Ephesians 6:12
